This is a first ever attempt at creating a computer-game of any kind and I'm eager to see if there is a good response to it.
I sense that the book that inspired it could also be fertile ground for a couple more games that may spin off and have very different moods to them. More intense, and perhaps have deomns and jumpscares.
What I hope for after this first round on itch is new buildouts with more encounters and activities.
The idea for this stage is to create a 15 min experience of game play and allow more after the donation of one's email and/or a contribution, during play. 20-30 minutes of play can happen.
Some challenges happened- most notably from my perspective was finding characters as free assets (esp women who were either 1. witches or 2. hotties was an enormous challenge). The game still suffers from a lack of women characters, but I hope this can be remedied. Figures (esp as free assests) in era appropriate attire seems extremely hard to come by.
I used Twine for story trees, but the developer ( @VladAlexandr ) began the design with some initial interactions I didn't write for. The desert father is to teach on 9 temptations and as of now there are 3 available.
The developer went a few rounds with iterations (in unity) to fix figures and items floating or mountains not being solid for better game play, and text going of the intended areas. The issues with the narrator getting interrupted but the voice that reads the choice selected is still there and some test players have mentioned that its frozen or locked them out from continuing.
